The heritage significance of a book is assessed against three interlinked values
weighting system is applied by assessors, guided by the following indicators:· Historical & Evidential Value: Age and rarity (pre-1850; pre-Federation 1901; mid-20th century); physical attributes (paper, binding, printing technique); provenance, association with significant persons, events, or institutions.· Intellectual & Content Value: Uniqueness of information; role in the history of ideas or scholarship; importance within a textual lineage (e.g., first edition, annotated copy); completeness.· Social & Cultural Value: Representation of a particular community, era, or cultural practice; value in documenting Australian migration history, Indigenous knowledges (subject to consultation with relevant communities), or social movements.
